Jewellery collection × Hornvarefabrikken
The starting point for this project was to rethink the use of horn in jewellery by focusing on the material and its cultural history. Most of the horn today is a byproduct of the meat production, which is burned together with other leftover materials. Therefore I wanted to show that horn also can be valuable and unique by working with the material and it’s qualities.
With focus on Nordic horn and inspiration in the structure of grass, I developed a new technique where the horn is heat bended around the metal. In that way the two materials are combined in a natural way without glue. In all the pieces the line going through is also bearing the piece on the body. This was a collaboration with the Danish company Hornvarefabrikken.
